What is the Subaru Love Promise?

The Subaru Love Promise is just that. A promise. It is a promise to do right by our community by partnering with nonprofit education, health, community, environment, and animal organizations - to set Subaru apart through our deeds and the deeds of our partners. To be unlike any other car company by doing what is right and good, just for the sake of doing it.

The Love Promise starts with Subaru of America

We at Subaru of America stay true to the Love Promise by partnering with a wide variety of nonprofits and charities. In addition to these partnerships, every year Subaru, our owners, and our retailers join hands in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to charities across the country. Over the past 20 years, Subaru of America has donated over 50 million dollars to causes we care about, and logged over 28,000 volunteer hours.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

The charities' varying focuses and passions include:

Pets

Whether they live in our homes or in the wild, Subaru is committed to keeping all animals safe and healthy.

A partner since 2008, Subaru has donated close to $14 million to the ASPCA and helped support nearly 1,000 pet adoption events, resulting in more than 11,500 adoptions to date.

Environment

Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Over a decade ago, Subaru became the first U.S. auto manufacturer to become zero-landfill, and now, in collaboration with the National Park Service and the National Parks Conservation Association, Subaru is leveraging that same environmental expertise to help the National Parks reach zero-landfill too.

Education

It’s our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.

Total donations to teachers: $92,233
Over 200 teachers adopted
More than 15,000 students impacts

Community

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

Subaru and Meals on Wheels America worked together to make volunteering easier, by launching a tool called the Meals on Wheels Online Volunteer Drive.

Health

We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.

Subaru has donated more than $4.5 million dollars to
Make A Wish, helping to grant 610 wishes in the U.S.

Love Promise Stories from Subaru of Champaign County

Pawtraits with Santa - with love  –  Heidi Z

Pawtraits with Santa - with love

Woof! The Subaru of Champaign County hosted "Pawtraits with Santa" (pictures with Santa) to benefit the Champaign County Humane Society on Saturday, December 10, 2016. Many dog and cat owners delighted in supporting the Champaign County Humane Society by getting their animal's portraits with Santa. The staff and crew at Subaru of Champaign County were outstanding - from coordination to publicity to graciously extending their showroom for the event. They went above and beyond to benefit the Champaign County Humane Society. The animals are so lucky that Subaru has "picked them up!" With gracious thanks, The Champaign County Humane Society.

From Subaru of Champaign with Love

I work with a small shelter in rural West Tennessee. For several years now we have been sending the dogs we rescue from certain death to rescues located in northern states. Our wonderful partnership with Bark and Ride Transport has aided us in this mission. The first leg of our dogs' journey takes them to overnight in Champaign County. A frequent overnight host of our dogs is Subaru of Champaign! Carleen Baker, a lady with a huge heart, arranges for several of the traveling dogs to attend wonderful slumber parties at the dealership. Not only does Carleen see that the dogs are overnighted comfortably and safely, she has taken on seeing that the dogs in our shelter receive much needed items. From blankets, food, cleaning supplies, & collars to warm coats! A fellow volunteer from the shelter and I brought a precious load of dogs on the first leg of their journey recently. Our return trip had our van filled to capacity thanks to the wonderful efforts of Carleen and her co-workers. It means so much to a small shelter run totally by volunteers and funded totally by donations to receive such wonderful gifts. Never before have I heard of an automobile dealership opening their doors to take care of formerly unwanted, abused animals overnight - treating them with loads of love and compassion - and having a donation drive to collect items for the dogs that fill the open spots in the shelter. It is a never-ending changing of the paws. Thank you Carleen and Subaru!

Slumber Pawties for Shelter Dogs on Transport Stop  –  Ginna M

Slumber Pawties for Shelter Dogs on Transport Stop

Almost three years ago I was contacted by Carleen Baker with Subaru of Champaign County wanting to know how the organization could help our dog rescue efforts. My group, Bark & Ride, provides transport to shelter dogs who are on their way to new lives with adoptive homes and foster based rescues in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. As most of these shelter dogs come from a rural Tennessee county, Champaign County is a good half-way stop for the night. In the past families in the Mahomet area have opened their homes to host a puppy or a dog, feed them, give them a bath, and take them on a walk to stretch their legs before putting them to bed in a soft, warm and quiet place for the night. There are often not enough families to host so many dogs. That's where Subaru of CC came in. They offered to open up their service bay for the night to as many dogs as we needed them to take. And we took them up on their offer--on average once a month! The volunteers come with a van and crates to pick up their guests and bring them back in the morning, rested, relaxed, and happy--in time to load them up for their final day of travel. We are so grateful for the help this group provides but most importantly we are grateful for the love of dogs that we share together! Thank you Subaru of Champaign County!
